Sadie Claus

Sadie Claus

Linda learned to sing 'Rudolph The Red Nosed Reindeer' at 4 years old. It was the only song she knew, having no idea that Rudolph would wind up pulling the sled she was to ride in as 'Sadie', Mrs. Santa Claus.

Because of Linda's outgoing personality, her genuine spontaneous responses, and her performance on the train, she was asked by the Grand Canyon Railway if she would perform on the train as a character actress, Mrs. Claus, in a specially painted "Santa's Coach" car for the month of December, 7 days a week. She had already done some character acting. She had performed for the Gore Corporation in Flagstaff Arizona, with the "Marshall and his Posse" as a widow woman with 8 kids looking for a husband.Linda eagerly accepted the "Mrs. Claus" offer. Arizona Highways did a photo shoot and press went out to newspapers all over the country. Several television news channels covered the event. The City of Flagstaff used the photo taken by Arizona Highways as the front page cover for their "Visitors Guide" magazine. The publicity was nation wide including radio. Because of Linda's humor and spontaneous responses, when asked "Mrs. Claus, what is your first name?" She replied, "Sadie, I'm Sadie Claus." At that moment, Sadie Claus was born. Sadie loved it and so did Linda. Young and old alike loved Sadie. Sadie says, "It's a wonderful opportunity to touch hearts and make a difference. The adults enjoy it as much as the children do. Some of the adults want to come back and live with me at the North Pole. They enjoy being made to feel young, and compared to me, they are!" At that same time, Linda was asked by the City of Williams, Arizona to perform Sadie and ride with Santa on the fire truck in the Christmas parade. They also invited Sadie to perform with Santa for the shopping days the week of Christmas. Santa got sick and Sadie did the performance solo with great success.

Since that time Linda spends December performing as Sadie Claus at private parties, Starlight Symphony Orchestra Concerts, corporation functions, private residences (a one on one performance), fund raisers and benefits, various small businesses, the Emily Ann Theater in Wimberley, Texas, art shows, and of course, for her children and her grand children. Linda says, "Once I am in costume, Sadie does not come out of character." Sadie gets asked a lot of questions for which there is no script. Some of the questions are funny and some are serious or sad. Sadie says, "I answer all of them. GOD gifted me with a doctorate in common sense, quick wit, and a good sense of humor. Besides..I believe!"
